Qualifications & Experience
  • A University Degree in Public Health, Paediatric Health, Family Health, Health Research, Global/international Health, Health Policy and/or Management, Environmental Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Socio-medical, Health Education, Epidemiology or other health related sciences is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in HIV/AIDS planning and management and/or in relevant areas of health care, health/emergency preparedness at the international level and/or in a developing country is required. Experience in HIV/AIDS programme/project development in UN system agency or organization is an asset.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection and/other related areas at the international level some of which preferably were served in a developing country is required. Experience in an emergency context is required.
  • Relevant experience in child protection and related areas, program/project development and management in a UN system agency or organization is an asset. Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.

(3) Job Title: WASH Consultant

Work Type : Consultancy

Purpose of the Assignment

  1. The purpose of this consultancy is to support the Field Office to assist State and LGA partners in the implementation of sustainable WASH services to achieve planned results under the FGN-UNICEF WASH Programme. 
  2. Assignment Tasks: Provide technical assistance to the State Rural Water and Sanitation Agencies (RUWASSAs) in the implementation, monitoring and supervision of agreed annual work plans with greater focus on ensuring quality of interventions.

FGN-UNICEF WASH Programme – Explained.

WASH programme is one aimed at  improving  the number of people benefiting from improved water and sanitation facilities. This is aligned with the National Rural Water Sanitation Strategic Framework as approved by the National Water Council and Millennium Development Goal 7 on environmental sustainability, in particular the reduction by half of the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.
The principal objectives of the programme are to:

  1. Increase access to improved water and sanitation facilities and hygiene knowledge and practice for communities and students in schools in selected areas.
  2. Develop and enhance institutional and sector professional and staff capacity for sustainable service delivery.
  3. Develop and support sustainable community system for water sources.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • University Degree in Geology/Hydrogeology, Civil/Environmental Engineering; Water & Sanitation; and Public Health.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in programme planning, implementation and monitoring preferably in water and sanitation sector.
  • Good communications and writing skills in English.
  • Excellent presentation skills, both in terms of written and oral communication.
  • Willingness to travel to rural and semi-urban areas of the country.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

(4)  Job Title: TA – Child Protection Officer – NOB

Major Tasks to be Accomplished:

  2. Strengthening GBV Prevention and Response, and

Qualifications or Specilialized Knowledge/Experience Required

Essential:
  • University degree in social work, social science, development studies or its equivalent. Relevant training and experience in a related field will be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrable professional experience in implementing Child Protection and GBV in emergencies including GBV and CP case Management
  • Proven ability to work independently under difficult conditions
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills

Desirable:

  • Experience of implementing support/reintegration programmes for girls and women associated with armed groups/victims of conflict related sexual violence
  • Experience of working with community structures and/or religious groups and leaders on SGBV and Child Protection
  • Experience in case management and tracing and reunification programmes for unaccompanied and separated children
  • Experience in team management
  • Fluency in English and Hausa
